Designed to be stylish.
Rooted in sustainability.
So…you’re here, your probably either already on your journey to a more sustainable wardrobe or you’re just starting your journey. The big question, what is fast fashion? Why does it suck so hard?
It all began with a need for fabric and no money.
Wanting to make a dress for an event and get back into sewing I couldn’t afford to go out and buy fabric, so I ripped up some old dresses and remade something new. LIGHTBULB MOMENT for me, welcoming me into the world of upcycling. I’m not reinventing the wheel, people have been doing this for years out of need and accessibility. But I do bring my own design and eye for colour and became a brand with up cycling and sustainability at its backbone.
When creating The Slow Lanes I wanted to to ensure my business helped revived the dying skill of mending, combat the constant scare tactics of fast fashion and over consumerism and its dire effect on our mental health and relationship with what fashion should be FUN, EXPERIEMENTAL AND A WAY TO LOVE AND EXPRESS YOURSELF.
I have a fashion design degree and worked with the industry for several years with my westernised blinkers on.
